Abstract

Seminar 1: Re-sculpting post-pandemic learning landscapes: The seamless ballet of blended learning

(11:00 am – 12:30 pm)

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Singapore has undertaken a sweeping implementation of blended learning and one-device-per-student settings across schools. This seminar, providing a researcher’s viewpoint, explores the opportunities and challenges within this educational shift. Leveraging a decade of seamless learning research, our outcomes serve as crucial resources, shaping the nationwide initiative. We delve into the intricate interplay between seamless and blended learning, highlighting conceptual overlaps and distinctive features. The lens of seamless learning, central to our research, transforms blended learning practices, intertwining teaching, learning, and assessment for novel educational possibilities.

Seminar 2: Generative AI and the pedagogical symphony: The potential of interweaving teaching, learning and formative assessment

(3:00 pm – 4:30 pm)

Discover the transformative influence of Generative AI in education, reshaping human-machine intellectual partnerships within Bloom’s Taxonomy. Explore how Gen AI instigates alternative assessments and examines the intricacies of authentic assessments. Through case studies in Second Language Learning, uncover examples of prompts and activity designs anchored in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theories, highlighting the seamless integration of teaching, learning, and formative assessment. This seminar navigates the potential of Gen AI, unraveling the dynamics of a pedagogical symphony.
